LEARN & PRACTISE

Word explorer

Read each word. Look for parts you know. Type each word to practise its spelling.

READ & UNDERSTAND

Reading detective

A neighbourhood group plans a clean-up day with a limited budget. Gloves cost $38, bags cost $24 and signs cost $16. They must also set aside money for unexpected expenses. The group checks calculations before buying anything and asks volunteers which items are genuinely needed. Their aim is to spend responsibly, not just use up the budget.

Why keep part of the budget unspent?

WRITE & IMPROVE

Writing studio

Recommend a budget for a pretend community project, with at least three costs and a reason.

Plan one idea, explain it and check that your sentences make sense. You can edit your writing.

TRY THE EXAMPLE FIRST

Maths mission

A $120 budget minus $38, $24 and $16 leaves $42.

APPLY YOUR LEARNING

Real-world mission

Build a three-column spending table: item, cost and reason it is needed.

You can also draw or make the activity away from the screen. Record what you did or what you would make.

SKILL GAME · TAKE YOUR TIME

Challenge gate

Use what you learnt to unlock the gate. There's no timer. Mistakes help you find what to try again.

A budget begins at $100 and costs are $65. Money left?

LOOK BACK

How did you go?

Choose what feels right. This isn't a test and there is no wrong answer.
