YEAR 4 · TERM 3 · WEEK 8
The Energy Detective
Read, think, write, solve and play. Try your own answer before checking. You can have another go.
LEARN & PRACTISE
Word explorer
Read each word. Look for parts you know. Type each word to practise its spelling.
READ & UNDERSTAND
Reading detective
On a cold day, a class compares two rooms. One room has its curtain closed during sunlight, while the other lets sunshine in. The pupils notice different temperatures but do not assume sunshine is the only reason. They decide to measure at the same time of day and record other differences so their comparison is fair.
WRITE & IMPROVE
Writing studio
Write a paragraph about a fair way to test a question. State what must stay the same.
Plan one idea, explain it and check that your sentences make sense. You can edit your writing.
TRY THE EXAMPLE FIRST
Maths mission
A room is 18°C and warms by 4°C. It becomes 22°C.
APPLY YOUR LEARNING
Real-world mission
Make a pretend temperature table for two rooms at three times. Explain one possible cause of a difference.
You can also draw or make the activity away from the screen. Record what you did or what you would make.
SKILL GAME · TAKE YOUR TIME
Challenge gate
Use what you learnt to unlock the gate. There's no timer. Mistakes help you find what to try again.
LOOK BACK
How did you go?
Choose what feels right. This isn't a test and there is no wrong answer.
Ka rawe — your learning is saved!
