TERM 4 · WEEK 6
The Storybook Portal
Step through the Storybook Portal. Restore the words, solve the clues, write the adventure, repair the pictures, rescue the ending and finish with a Quick Draw sprint.
Restore the missing story words before the wolf reaches the brick house.
Fairy-Tale Word Magic
Strong words help the reader picture exactly what is happening.
A precise verb tells us how an action happens. Compare these two sentences.
Why is “crept” stronger? It tells us the wolf moved slowly and quietly, so the sentence creates a clearer mood.
The pig looked through the crack in the door. Which word creates the clearest picture?
“Open the door!” the wolf ___.
The little pig ___ through the window.
The pigs built a ___ brick house.
The forest became dark and ___.
Investigate the cottage, read the clues and make an inference like a story detective.
Clues in the Bears' Cottage
Good readers combine story clues with what they already know.
CLUEThe smallest bowl is empty and the spoon is still warm.
→INFERENCESomeone probably ate the porridge recently.
The Quiet Cottage
Three bears returned from a walk and stopped at the cottage door. Something felt different. The smallest bowl was empty, and a warm spoon rested beside it. One chair had tipped sideways and the smallest chair had a cracked leg. Upstairs, two beds were neat, but the smallest blanket was rumpled into a heap. A faint trail of muddy footprints led from the bedroom towards the back door. “Someone has been here,” said Papa Bear. Baby Bear listened. From somewhere beyond the garden came the snap of a twig.
Which clue proves somebody has disturbed the cottage? Tap a strong clue.
Follow the glowing trail, build a problem and write your own three-part fairy-tale adventure.
Write Your Storybook Adventure
Your story needs a beginning, a problem and a solution — plus dialogue that sounds like a character speaking.
Who is there? Where are they? What is the mood?
Something changes, disappears, blocks the path or goes wrong.
Your character makes a choice that solves the problem.
Speech marks hold the exact words. The speaking verb tells us how the words were said.
Choose three ingredients and we will build a model opening.
Repair the illustrations with fractions, translation, reflection, rotation and halves.
Storybook Geometry
The illustrations have slipped out of place. Repair all five picture spells.
Complete every spell to restore the Storybook Geometry page.
Build all six story panels so the Great Storybook can reach its ending.
Rescue the Missing Ending
The last page has disappeared. Build exactly six panels so another reader can follow the adventure.
Each panel moves the action forward. Captions, dialogue, size, position and close-ups help the audience know what matters.
Which tool would help the audience notice the most important moment?
Play the challenge and follow the instructions inside the game. Complete at least one challenge successfully to finish this Game Break.
Open a surprise drawing challenge and sketch it before the storybook timer runs out.
Quick Draw: Storybook Sprint
Open the book, reveal a surprise prompt, then draw it before the timer reaches zero.
The drawing page stays closed until you are ready. Open a challenge, then sketch before the 30-second timer reaches zero.
Your drawing has joined the Storybook.
