YEAR 5 · TERM 4 · WEEK 9
Future Town Showcase
Read, think, write, solve and play. Try your own answer before checking. You can have another go.
LEARN & PRACTISE
Word explorer
Read each word. Look for parts you know. Type each word to practise its spelling.
READ & UNDERSTAND
Reading detective
A class prepares proposals for a future town. Some pupils want a safer walking route, others propose shade at the playground or more places to sit. They collect opinions from different age groups, calculate costs and explain possible trade-offs. The final presentations make clear which ideas are supported by evidence and which need more investigation.
WRITE & IMPROVE
Writing studio
Draft a persuasive town proposal with a claim, two evidence points and one limitation.
Plan one idea, explain it and check that your sentences make sense. You can edit your writing.
TRY THE EXAMPLE FIRST
Maths mission
A $3,600 project divided equally across 6 groups costs $600 each.
APPLY YOUR LEARNING
Real-world mission
Sketch a town improvement with an estimated budget and an accessibility consideration.
You can also draw or make the activity away from the screen. Record what you did or what you would make.
SKILL GAME · TAKE YOUR TIME
Challenge gate
Use what you learnt to unlock the gate. There's no timer. Mistakes help you find what to try again.
